About Me


Shayla Fekety, BSN, RN, PMH-BC is a registered nurse currently practicing in Colorado Springs, CO. She received an Associate of Science in Nursing degree from Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs, CO, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. Shayla is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner emphasis at Colorado State University in Pueblo with an anticipated graduation date of May 2026.

Shayla has practiced as a psychiatric mental health nurse since 2015, and became board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in the area of psychiatric mental health nursing in 2017. She specializes in the treatment of adults with psychotic disorders and/or other severe and persistent mental illness, but also has extensive experience in the mental health treatment of children, adolescents, and geriatrics. Shayla is additionally experienced with the treatment of substance use disorders and individuals with dual diagnoses.

In addition to treating individuals with severe mental illness, Shayla is an active member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association. She acts as a patient rights advocate for individuals receiving involuntary psychiatric treatment and sat on the American Psychiatric Nurses Association’s Council for Mental Health Advocacy’s Steering Committee from 2018 to 2019. Shayla believes the path to mental wellness begins with empathy and cooperation, not coercion, and works to include all of her patients in treatment decision-making.

Shayla enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and practicing creative journaling.
